More About Aaron and His Story

Prior to becoming a psychologist, Aaron served 23 years in the Royal Australian Navy, retiring as a Petty Officer in the Communications and Information Systems branch. After leaving the Navy, Aaron established a dog walking and jogging business in Melbourne while he completed his undergraduate and fourth year studies in psychology. This career history gives Aaron a practical, pragmatic and direct approach to life and his work in psychology.

Aaron has strong, community-focused values, which he has expressed through many years of people-focused, volunteer roles. These included roles with St Vincent de Paul’s Redfern Task Force (in home visits) and Compeer (mental health friendship) programs, LinkAge (aged care friendship), Legacy (Legatee supporting widows), and counselling roles on crisis and peer support phone lines. It was this desire to contribute to the community by helping others that led to Aaron’s career change into psychology.

Aaron identifies as a non-binary, gay man and has a lived experience of Social Anxiety Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). These experiences shape his perspective and approach to psychological therapy and give Aaron a special interest in supporting and affirming the queer and neurodiverse communities.

Aaron’s hobbies include walking his dog (Yoda), bushwalking, going to the beach and catching up with friends and family whenever he can. Aaron also enjoys most forms of music and the Arts.
